Street-to-landscape relationship at a glance.

The bridge is a 2025 replacement of an older crossing, designed by DTAH, with a webnet-edged deck spanning the Rosedale Valley Ravine. At its south end a tunnel passes under Bloor Street, compressing the route before it opens onto the ravine trail. The sequence is rare in Toronto: a crossing and a passage in the same approach. Above, Bloor carries buses and noise. Below, the ravine floor holds a different temperature and a different light. The threshold works in both directions, but northbound the tunnel comes first, and the compression makes the arrival on the bridge feel more sudden.

Context

The Glen Road Pedestrian Bridge and Tunnel replacement was a multi-year City of Toronto infrastructure project. The new structure opened in June 2025, with improvements to the south plaza, south landing, and north approach, and the under-Bloor tunnel retained as part of the pedestrian route.
